Do not Disassociate, Anull your baptism
by jwfacts ini am now a jedi, so trust me on this.. .
why dis-associate, you are just playing by the wts rules?
how can you dis-associate anyway, you never thought you were baptised as a watchtower society member, you thought your dedication was to god, so why formally disassociate from something you did not formally join?

Thanks for sharing your ideas. I especially appreciate the thoughts about being baptised as a minor , and the change in the questions for baptism . If confronted I will surely use this reasoning to my advantage .Whether or not the BOE will agree is another thing.

POST YOUR EXPERIENCE OF GROWING UP AS A JW....
by SWALKER ini guess that one of my first memories, about 3 years old, had to be sitting in a hard chair being made to listen to a boring talk that i didn't understand.
we weren't allowed any toys or books to look at besides the wt publications...i remember getting taken outside and beat for something i did...but i didn't even understand what i did wrong.
i remember that our car didn't have air-conditioning and during the summer how hot and sticky i was by the time i got to the kh.

Beesknees... Yes I remember having to say ," why yes brother all I want to do is aux. pioneer over summer vacation ", The best experience I ever remember was the time when they interveiwed several youth in our hall. Most gave the common answers go to Bethel , pioneer , be a servant ect...until they reached one young boy who adamantly stated " I want to be a garbage man! ". I told my husband ,"at least he was honest ".

My mom became a witness in 1955 . I came along in the 60's. My Dad was career military so my first memories of meetings were of driving off base 30 miles one way to go to KH. I would change into my pj's in the car on the trip home.I remember my dad being very embarassed when some of his men would see my mom going door to door , so she wasn't allowed to go close to home. When we moved closer to other relatives mom would warn me that one day they would probably try to take me , and turn me away from her. She constantly filled our minds about persecution witnesses had endured . The worst was being told about what happened in Malawi , in detail. My grandfather would call us commies , and would always tell me never believe everything you read. JW's are a bunch of brain washing commies . He said a few things about Russell being a womanizer and Rutherford being a drunk. As a kid I just figured that was his way of persecuting me .I wish I could ask him now why he said those things, he obviously knew more than I gave him credit for. I was known as goody two shoes until I became a teen . Then I did every thing imaginable , I felt I needed to get it all in before armegeddon. I hid everything I did and became a masterful liar. At fifteen I lost my virginity , and truely thought this is it- I'm going to die for sure now and Jehovah hates me! The elders found out , and I wish I would have died . I hated the way they made me feel .Years later I called one of them and told him what a bunch of jerks they all had been , and that they had no right dealing with me the way they had . I got baptized at 17 married at 18 .Still in the mind set to get everything in before the big A. When we had our children I refused to enforce the Big A around the corner mentality.I also tried to allow my kids to think outside the box . At 44 I am just now really allowing myself to think completely out of the box .It is scary and at the same time so exhilarating. Thank you all for being there and listening when I feel so alone in all this.

How depressed/ill are JW`s?
by jambon1 inhaving spent a couple of months in the world after a decade of devotion to the wt i have began to realise how hardly any of my friends have problems with illness.
it dawned on me a while ago that many, many witnesses have problems with health in one way or another.
how many times did you go to the hall and ask someone how they were doing to be told, 'oh, just struggling on', or 'i have`nt been too great' or 'i`m feeling a bit low just now'.

My non-JW dad always comments ," don't you know any normal people that arn't sick" , he said he's never heard of any other group of people with more diseases and sicknesses than the group of JW's my sister and mom associate with. I really do believe it is because of the internalized stress witnesses unconsciously do to themselves striving to be perfect examples.

Thanks for sharing that information . Do you want to hear something funny ? A few years ago our family had the priviledge of a sheparding call, and during the visit I noticed the Bro. looking through my book shelves . Then he commented on the way I like to decorate the house for fall and winter .He noted the lighted houses I keep on a shelf ( could be mistaken for xmas houses) It is only now that I've figured out they were checking up on me to see if I was celebrating holidays ! (which at the time I wasn't ) But now some of his questions make more sense , Some one must have seen the decor , and put in a warning to the bosses. And the last sheparding visit (which came after missing more than a few meetings ) one elder asked if I was stumbled over the 1975 issue , because he was sure he had spoken to me about it before.......which is not true because I was a kid back then ,and never believed any of that mess anyway. But now I think he was sniffing for possible apostate views ...sneaky little .

Flu "Epidemic" at School
by Scully inone of my kids was sent home from school last thursday with symptoms of headache, fever, chills, aching joints.
the next day, still not feeling well, she asks to go to the doctor, so i know this is not your typical kid-wanting-to-get-out-of-school thing.. i get a call from the school principal, and it turns out that out of about 400 students, almost 25% of the kids have come down with the same symptoms.
the public health department is notified.

My son had that flu two weeks ago severe headache and body pain . He asked to be taken to the doctor too ! They gave him pain reliever which did help so he could just sleep.
